A dollarstore sketchbook screamed my name and haunted me for days, so today I went back and dropped $20 on some supplies, and voila: after a few false starts and a bit of stage fright, my first portrait in 4 years.
My last sketch was a memorial portrait of a friend. Joyce has been a much happier experience. It's a bit messy but it turned out a lot better than I expected.
